Did you know that menstrual hygiene is not just a health issue—but a climate and environmental justice issue too?
As we fight for a clean, greener, habitable and a sustainable environment SDG NO. 13 and a Habitable earth or world for all SDG NO. 15, in view of that in view of that endeavor to have equal access to safe, hygiene and eco-friendly menstrual solutions for girl’s and women, especially in underserved – needy and vulnarable communities. 🌱
This is on our continued quest and mission to Transform our Environment; Touch, Impact and Transform a Girl Child’s Life One Person at a Time.
In Partnership with World Serve International, we seek to provide Communities with the most essential commodity – clean water, menstrual hygiene solutions and therefore realize SDG NO. 6 Clean water and Sanitation and empowerment to girls and women across Kenya.
As TEAMEnvironment KENYA, we champion climate action and youth-led or Locally Led environmental restoration, initiatives and innovations across the country such as Waste Management, Tree Nursery Establishment (seedlings propagation) to ensure that we have Sustainable Cities and Communities SDG NO. 11 and therefore reduce Inequalities SDG NO. 10💧🌳
Collectively and Individually we have come to the realization and constant reminder that: –
We cannot talk about environmental conservation without talking about proper waste management.
Wherever there is humanity waste is generated; – these may be degradable, non bio-degradable and obsolete waste.
Menstrual Waste contributes to a significant amount of waste that is generated daily globally that results to environmental pollution, because it is a
Non-biodegradable that ends up in the environment and water ways and water bodies through the sewer system and therefore affecting the Environment SDG NO. 13 and SDG. NO. 14. Life Under Water and SDG. NO. 15 Life on Land and therefore the need for Climate Action.
We therefo5e can’t talk about climate resilience if girls miss school because of a lack of menstrual products or unsafe sanitation facilities.
We can’t talk about climate action and environmental justice without dignity, gender equity and inclusivity. This has to start with access to safe, user friendly, environmental friendly (bio-degradable), reusable, and sustainable and affordable menstrual hygiene option which the World Serve International in collaboration with is providing in support of the girl and women.
It is in this regard that we are calling all members of the community and society to join us in our campair ro normalize conversations around menstrual health and periods – “Leaving No Girl Behind.”
Let’s us take care of Mother Nature and our environment by planting trees, protecting our water sources, promote and advocate for the use of reusable menstrual help products ie. Menstrual Cups as this gives dignity to girls and women with engaging and involving them in Climate Action and environmental health discussions.
