TEAMEnvironment KENYA’

TEAMEnvironment KENYA will engage in environmental conservation activities in all counties across the country and in the region. The events will be undertaken in rural, urban, peri-urban areas, including residential and commercial environments. Other environmental activities and expeditions include:-

  • Tree planting for sensitization and mobilization on reforestation, afforestation and agro-forestry/woodlots.
  • Town-cleaning.
  • River(s) adoption and rehabilitation.
  • Wetland reclamation.
  • Restoration of our water towers.
  • Fundraising for conservation through nature walks, cycling, hikes, forest ‘bush whacks’, and media documentaries.
  • Other arranged activities for eco-tourism including game drives, zip-lines, board walks, canopy walks, tree platforms, bird watching bird hides, guided boat tours.

These activities and many others shall be undertaken within Game reserves/parks, forest/nature reserves, marine reserves/parks, wetlands, heritage sites, as well as biosphere reserves. This will inspire change in the way individuals/communities live, work, play and travel in interaction with nature. Our constituent organizations are already operating across the various sectors including environmental services, housing, manufacturing, health, nutrition/agriculture, transport, education, water services, and many others. Some of the collaborations will inspire the creation of Eco-camps, demonstration farms/nurseries, Resource Centers and corresponding events/activities dedicated to conservation of the environment with emphasis on developing and managing natural resources and the species of fauna and flora identified as stressed or gazetted as endangered. These will be placed in our itinerary for all future engagements in partnerships with stakeholders across all counties within Kenya and beyond.

TEAMEnvironment KENYA aims at boosting natural resources, conservation, conservation agriculture, and local eco-tourism, by engaging in all-inclusive participatory activities within communities in planting trees, cleanups, training/learning camps, public sensitization on responsible lifestyles, and travel to conserved natural resource sites, advocacy for the well being of the local community and sustainable development.

The activities will underpin TEK’s various study/conservation expeditions in natural protected areas on land and/or sea. The protection and maintenance of biological diversity and of natural and associated cultural resources is an essential environmental service whose development, implementation, practice is critical to TEK’s mission. TEK’s liaison with the relevant stakeholders and the managers of the various sites envisions in the short and long term, seeking member participation/ inclusion/ visits on world/national environmental events focusing on resilience of natural or sustainably managed landscapes/seascapes or resource protected areas.

These include protected forests (Highland forests, Dry land forests, Western rainforests, Urban forests, Coastal forests & Mangrove areas, Eastern Arc Mountain forests), national parks, marine parks, nature reserves, national sanctuaries, and world heritage sites.  The aim is to engage all hands on deck among stakeholders in enhancing the sustainable use of natural ecosystems in Kenya, across the region and globally.
